Concerned About Age Spots?

Nearly half the marriageable population is divorced these days, with many middle-aged men and women moving into the populace in search of a mate again. Whether married or single, there’s also increasing pressure to look youthful and attractive in order to get ahead in the workplace. Facelifts, collagen injections, and anti wrinkle creams may address certain aging symptoms, they do not deal with those brown “liver” or age spots on your arms or legs. Happily, there are some options for alleviating that as well.

UV rays, tanning beds and excess sunlight are generally the culprits behind the darker pigmentation, but as we age, the body produces extra melanin, which also contributes to the appearance of “liver” spots. There are other speculations. Shifting hormone levels from pregnancy or birth control pills have also been blamed for these spots. Some researchers even believe that handling psoralens, such as parsnips, limes and parsley before going out in the sun increases your likelihood of getting age spots. Certain medicines are also implicated–like Tetracycline, certain diuretics, and antipsychotics like Thorazine. But then again, in some cases it’s mostly hereditary.

Most dark spots are benign, but it is a good idea to ensure your spots are not some cancerous form before using any skin treatments. Consult a competent medical advisor. As with any skin lesion, they could be a cancerous form such as melanoma. This type of skin cancer, Lentigo Maligna Melanoma, generally develops as a result of long-term exposure to the sun. This cancer begins with tan or brown lesions that slowly darken and enlarge. Additionally, they usually have irregular borders, uneven coloring and are slightly raised.

Once you are confident your spots are not cancerous, there are several great treatments available for lightening and eliminating these spots. Reversa HQ and Neo Strata HQ are prescription bleaching creams containing Hydroquinone–a substance that can be quite harsh. Some patients try applying the creams every other day to strengthen their tolerance, while others opt to use mild steroids to ease the side effects over the next few months, while the age spots are fading.

We prefer Revitol Skin Brightener Cream which uses plant-based ingredients to reduce the appearance of dark spots including freckles and uneven pigmentation. Revitol lightens dark age spots safely while keeping the skin moisturized and soft. I don’t know about you, but when I put something directly on my skin I like to know it contains no mercury or other harmful ingredients. This is a limited offer, but right now they are offering two free bottles with certain purchases.

Our favorite treatment for age spots, however, is Meladerm Pigment Reducing Complex. Using Meladerm you can lighten dark spots and reduce discolorations and hyperpigmentation in 14 days or less. This is particularly effective with age spots, birthmarks, freckles and sun damage. There is no risk in trying this product since it comes with a 100% money-back guarantee.

Another popular option is laser therapy to combat spots and repair damaged skin by destroying excess melanocytes. Laser treatment requires several visits and may be expensive, but the results are effective, with “liver” spots usually disappearing within weeks. This is a rewarding option because the probability of scarring is very low. As far as skin solutions go, this may be expensive, although for more serious cases, it’s ideal.

For the brave or desperate, chemical peels are an alternative for pesky age spots. Impatient people won’t appreciate this option, but it works very well over several treatments. These chemicals act like a severe sun burn, causing the skin to peel and promoting a smooth, delicate skin finish underneath. Chemical peels have also been used as a successful skin treatment for acne and eye wrinkles. It is imperative that you apply sunscreen liberally when you are exposed to the sun!

Cellulite is often misunderstood. The appearance is often likened to that of cottage cheese or is given the nice little term dimpled. Regardless of what you want to call it, cellulite is simply subcutaneous fat deposits.

Regardless of popular thought cellulite is not a “fat” problem, in fact it has more to genetics. Individuals are predisposed as to how their body will store its fat. This is the reason why you will see thin individuals with cellulite and over weight individuals who do not appear to have any cellulite at all. In addition environmental damage, aging and hormones are also thought to play a role in the formation of cellulite.

If you are looking for a natural solution for cellulite than essential oils may be an option. Many essential oils may be safely used to help reduce the appearance of cellulite. The applications that are most commonly used are bathing and massage. For a bath use approximately ten drops of your chosen essential oil in your water, do not however add the oil to your bath until you have finished running your water. Ensure that you agitate the water with your hand before getting in to ensure that the oil is not sitting in a clump on the surface.

The other application that can be used is by making up a mixture that can be massaged into the affected area. To make a massage oil for this purpose simply add two to three drops of your chosen essential oil and add it to one ounce of your favorite carrier oil and enjoy. Regardless which application you choose, use regularly.

1. The aroma of Tangerine essential oil can be described as sweet, fresh, comforting and lively. This essential oil is extracted from the outer peel of the fruit by cold expression. If you decide to give Tangerine essential oil a try ensure that you to do not use it before you on an area of skin that will exposed to direct sunlight as it is has been known to be phototoxic.

Other citrus essential oils that can be applied for this therapeutic use are lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit.

2. Geranium essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves, stalks or flowers of the plant Pelargonium graveolens. This essential oil has an exotic, spicy, floral scent and is known as the “women’s oil” because of the benefits it provides for menstrual and menopausal issues.

3. Wintergreen essential oil has a warm minty scent which is recognized world wide. This essential oil is extracted by steam or water distillation from the leaves of the plant Gaultheria procumbens.

4. Oregano is one of the most popular spices found in kitchens however Oregano essential oil is one of the most popular oils in aromatherapy. This oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried herb and leaves.

5. Juniper Berry essential oil is believed to be one of the first aromatics used dating back to ancient civilizations. This versatile essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried or slightly dried ripened fruit of the plant Juniperus communis.

6. Pine essential oil has a very recognizable scent and is often associated with winter and the holidays. This essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the needles, twigs and buds of Pinus sylvestris. Do not use oil from the dwarf pine Pinus pumilio.

If using essential oils interests you then choose an essential oil that has the therapeutic properties that you are looking for but that also has a scent or aroma that you find appealing.

What is Pomegranate Cream for Aging Skin?

July 28th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Pomegranate cream for aging skin is an anti-aging skin care product made using natural ingredients. It is an almost 100% natural cream, unlike other skin care products which are labelled as containing all natural ingredients. These creams contain no propylene glycol and are marked and marketed, usually, as a reversal product for aging skin. Lots of them contain vitamin a to help reduce the size and color tones of blemishes, particularly relating to acne. They are not only targeted at women, but are also sold as skin care products for men. They are predominately facial skin care products but have been known to be used on the neck, shoulders and back, especially when used in the treatment of acne spots and scars.

Pomegranate creams are available for the face, a natural bar soap and in the form of an eye serum to combat bags and ’crows feet’. They are all natural skin care products and are made from pure essential oils. These creams can be used alongside organic coconut oil for extra protection or relief from the signs of aging. However be aware that the use of such an oil can increase the risk of breaking out in spots or small patches of mild acne. The use of both of these products together is particularly effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The combining of these different skin care products is known as custom skin care.

Pomegranate bath and body products are available in gift sets from many retailers and are designed for both men and women. Soaking in MOR pomegranate bath foam will help you to relax, while relaxing the muscles all over the body, particularly in the face and neck, which will promote growth and repair of new skin cells and tighten the skin around the eyes, making lines and wrinkles appear smaller or less defined. This method is particularly good for those with very dry skin as the bath soak will absorb moisture into the lower layers of skin which can be harder for creams to reach. Try it as a fresh skin care solution.

The whole pomegranate natural organic skin care range is one of the best on the market as there are no artificial ingredients and, whether they are supposed to or not, they all act as very healthy skin care products. Pure organic Shea butter is a very good, very natural moisturizer and healing cream which works particularly well when mixed with pomegranate cream, so your wrinkles will disappear and your skin will stay smooth and supple. This is definitely the best anti aging skin care solution available, without painful surgery or injections. When you are using any creams for relief from acne or similar problems, it would be a good idea to switch to Shea butter or pomegranate creams because these are noncomedogenic skin care products, meaning they will not clog the pores and help to prevent new break outs as well as treating the already present spots.

Organic Anti-Aging Skin Care Products

July 25th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

For decades, many skin care specialists have recommended a variety of procedures that involved the use of chemicals for anti-aging treatments. Recently, a new trend has emerged in the skincare industry. That is, the emergence of anti-aging skincare products, which are made from natural, organic ingredients. In fact, more and more skin care specialists have begun to recommend organic anti-aging skincare products as a form of treatment for wrinkles as well as treatment for sun damaged skin and acne skin care.

What makes organic skin care products highly effective is the fact that they attack wrinkles and other signs of aging right at its source. Contrary to the belief that wrinkles, age spots and other signs of aging are due to the fact that you are getting older or that it is genetic. Signs of aging appear as a result of extensive exposure to the sun’s UV radiation and Reactive Oxygen Species, more commonly known as free radicals. UV radiation and free radicals disrupt the communication between the skin cells of the body, resulting in an imbalance of proteins such as collagen. This causes the skin to lose its elasticity, then wrinkles and other signs of skin aging begin to appear.

Natural antioxidants, such as catalase and glutathione, are the primary ingredients of organic natural skincare products, which limits the production of free radicals on the skin, which is the result of extensive exposure to sunlight. They promote the production of vital proteins in the skin cells to restore its elasticity. As a result, it prevents the development of age spots which are caused by an increase of melanin in the skin.

Another benefit of using natural skin care products for the treatment of crow’s feet, wrinkles and other anti-aging problems is the fact that you won’t need to worry about side effects, which often occurs as a result of using chemical-based anti-wrinkle products. Many anti-aging wrinkle creams and other products, which fight the signs of aging, have been created with chemicals, that would often cause rashes and redness, especially on sensitive skin. These may cause more damage than good, with side effects such as heart problems with some forms of treatment, such as Botox injections.

Anti-aging skin treatments that are organic and natural provide holistic skin care to the user since it not only fights the signs of aging, but is able to treat a wide variety of skin care problems such as acne skincare and promotion of the overall well-being of the individual. Many natural and organic compounds used in natural skincare products contain anti-microbial and anti-bacterial components which will be able to treat acne problems. Many of the compounds used in these products are also used for aromatherapy, which provides anti-aging treatment to areas not seen by the naked eye but are still considered as signs of aging, which include vision and hearing impairment and memory loss.

What Is The Best Treatment For Upper Lip Wrinkles

July 22nd, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

What is the best treatment for upper lip wrinkles? Some say it is a treatment of collagen injections. Others say it is cosmetic treatments such as botox or other dermal fillers. Wrinkle treatments vary greatly. There are so many different types it would be impossible to list all of them.

Dermatologists’ have the widest knowledge of all procedures, surgical and non - surgical, that are available today. There are specialists in lip enhancements all over the world, which can perform any type of procedure for this purpose, the most popular of which being collagen injections and lip fillers. It is thought that laser hair removal may be a possibility for reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the upper lip. This is a common misconception as the procedure of laser hair removal can inadvertently speed up the aging process on that one area of skin, because it kills off so many skin cells in the process. This is also the case with some acne treatments like removing acne scarring by cosmetic medicine. The removal of acne or acne scarring through cosmetic treatments can exacerbate the appearance of already present lines and any wrinkle in the treated area may become more defined.

After going for an initial consultation with your dermatologist, it is a very good idea to think very carefully before agreeing to any kind of surgical procedure, as there are always risks involved. You should then consider which treatment you think is the most beneficial, for the purpose, as well as being right for you. It does seem, at the present time, the best treatment for upper lip wrinkles are fillers. Dermal fillers to be precise, which are injected in to the flesh around the lips and sometimes into the line or wrinkle itself. It is the most effective non - surgical wrinkle correction option available at the moment.

While laser hair removal is not recommended for those who already have very defined upper lip wrinkles, it is the best method of hair removal, specifically on the upper lip and for brow shaping. The laser can penetrate very deep beneath the brow and cause damage to the eyes so think very carefully before selecting this method for the removal of hair from this area. Upper lip hair can make a person, especially a woman, look much older. If you already have established wrinkles on the upper lip it is up to you to decide, which you would rather get rid of, the hair or the wrinkles. In most cases women opt for the hair to be treated. If you need to remove upper lip hair and also treat the underlying wrinkles, the most effective method is electrolysis for hair removal, followed by the use of injectible lip filler for the lines.

What Are Botox Injections Like?

July 16th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

It has become a buzzword among females when they get together and begin discussing the various signs of aging that they have begun noticing with their facial expressions such as fine lines, and facial wrinkles, due to the natural loss of collagen. Interest regarding botox injection heightens more when a friend comes back looking 5 years younger and fresher that she had ever before. Before you know it, you have become a convert and begin planning, when your turn will come to have your own botox treatment. But before you do, it would be best to learn more about what are botox injections like. This article will provide you important information you need to know first before setting up your first session.

Just what is Botox? Botox (short for Botulinum toxin type a) treatment is a non-surgical wrinkle treatment administered by a physician that smoothes down glabellar lines (frown lines) usually located between the eyebrows. The treatment uses a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria which has been known to temporarily reduce the muscle activity that causes frown lines to occur.

How does the Botox injection treatment work and what are botox injections like? The entire procedure of having a botox treatment takes only 10 minutes. A few tiny injections of the protein from the C. botulinum bacteria are administered by a physician into the frown lines and facial wrinkles. The patient would be able to see results in a matter of a few days and it will last up to four months. Many physicians will actually provide patients, before and after photos, in order to really see the effectiveness of the treatment.

Is the treatment safe? Despite the growing number of patients raving about the benefits of botox cosmetic injections, many have become wary of the idea that a toxin is being injected into their skin, which is the botulinum toxin. Botox injection treatments have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, which is a guarantee that the treatment is 100% safe. However, your dermatologist may discourage you, if you currently have a skin infection on the area where you would like to be treated, if you are allergic to the C. botulinum protein or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to be pregnant. Botox cosmetic injection treatments are also not advisable for those that have any existing form of muscular or nerve disorders, as the presence of these diseases may increase the chances of the patient developing problems. Also, notify your doctor of any existing medications that you might be taking which include antibiotics and maintenance medication for heart problems and Alzheimer’s disease.

What are Botox side effects? The most common side effects associated with botox cosmetic injections include a temporary drop on the eyelids, nausea, pain, infection, tenderness, swelling, redness and bruising on the treated area. Serious side effects include difficulty in swallowing, speaking or breathing, contraction of serious heart problems and severe allergic reactions although these serious side effects are rare.
