Most Common Questions When It Comes To Anti Ageing Skin Care Products
Wednesday, October 15th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedIf the truth be told, no-one wants to look old so it is not surprising that one of the largest markets in the world of health and beauty is anti-ageing skin care products. This is done by encouraging the growth of the protein collagen which happens to be the main source of the protein used in the connective tissue of skin. This area of anti-ageing treatment is connected to another area involved in looking young; that of anti-oxidants.
One of the best known anti-oxidants is vitamin C and despite continual research, no-one body involved can decide just exactly how much our body should consume on a daily basis. The problem with vitamin C derived skin care treatments, is they can become oxidized when exposed to the atmosphere, often even before they are used.
Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. However, these anti-ageing skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects.
Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant and component of human blood whose purpose is to help increase the body’s immune system against diseases including cancer. Another, lipoic acid is in every cell of our body and is used to generate energy for us to live but also helps reduce and reverse the skin’s ageing process.
Phytochemicals form the other category of anti-ageing skin care products which are special chemicals that are extracted from plants with a variety of that are used in skin care today. Like lipoic acid, phytochemicals help reduce the occurrence of cancers such as prostate, breast and colon cancers.
Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti-ageing skin care products. The use of anti-ageing skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age.
There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle but research is moving forward rapidly and it is only a matter of time before a new generation of products becomes available. The amount of research going on in this field will undoubtedly bring results in time, hopefully bringing down the cost of these anti-ageing skin care products in addition to increasing their reliability.
In some respects the real way ahead lies in our own hands as there are many things we can do to reduce the signs of ageing naturally. For instance, regular sleep patterns, exercise, a good healthy diet and less stress will all contribute to reducing the signs of ageing.
